Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Boros Voltron strategy led by Lightning, Army of One. It maximizes Lightning's built-in combat keywords—first strike, trample, and lifelink—alongside her Stagger ability, which doubles subsequent damage dealt to damaged opponents. The primary game plan accelerates Lightning onto the board on Turn 3, equips her on Turn 4 using cost-cheating engines like Sigarda's Aid, Puresteel Paladin, or Forge Anew, and delivers massive commander damage bursts using damage multipliers such as Two-Handed Axe and Duelist's Heritage. Card advantage is sustained through combat triggers from Buster Sword, Sword of Fire and Ice, and Trouble in Pairs, while efficient tutors ensure consistent access to key weapons. Protective spells like Deflecting Swat, Boros Charm, and Restoration Magic shield the commander from spot removal and board wipes. The deck closes games around Turn 6 by sequencing lethal attacks or executing an infinite combat combo with Aurelia, the Warleader and Helm of the Host.
