Format: Commander

Commander: The Ur-Dragon

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

The Ur-Dragon deck is a five-color Dragon midrange build that uses the commander's eminence discount to resolve Dragons early, while a heavy instant/sorcery subtheme powers Niv-Mizzet, Parun and payoff enchantments. Tiamat functions as the hidden commander: when cast, it tutors the three Niv-Mizzet dragons and extra beaters. The primary plan is to swing with Ur-Dragon and Klauth to draw cards, cheat permanents into play, and generate postcombat mana to cast the Niv-Mizzet loop for infinite damage. Secondary paths are Dragon beatdown with Lathliss tokens and a spell-copying package built around Thousand-Year Storm and Prismari, the Inspiration. The commander is a payoff and engine, but the deck can operate without casting it.
