Deck overview

This Golgari deck pairs an aggressive aristocrats attrition strategy with a lethal creature-based combo. Led by Jenova, Ancient Calamity, the engine turns creature sacrifice into substantial card velocity by placing +1/+1 counters on utility creatures and converting Mutants into fresh cards when they die. Fast mana acceleration like Dark Ritual, Sol Ring, and Chrome Mox ensures early deployment of key pieces. The midgame controls opposing battlefields through repeatable edict effects like Plaguecrafter, Demon's Disciple, and Savra, Queen of the Golgari, stripping opposing threats while feeding recursion pieces such as Forsaken Miner and Reassembling Skeleton. The definitive win condition centers on Protean Hulk, which upon dying fetches Melira, Sylvok Outcast, Lesser Masticore, Viscera Seer, and Disciple of the Vault directly to the battlefield. This assembles an infinite sacrifice loop that immediately drains all opponents.
