Deck overview

Bre of Clan Stoutarm rewards the deck for gaining life by casting a revealed spell for free or placing a larger spell into hand. The surrounding cards build life totals, counters, tokens, and incremental card flow through creatures such as Soul Warden, Guide of Souls, Haliya, Guided by Light, and Exemplar of Light. The primary finish is the compact Heliod, Sun-Crowned and Walking Ballista infinite-damage combo. Ranger-Captain of Eos and Ranger of Eos provide useful access to Walking Ballista and one-mana support creatures, but Heliod, Sun-Crowned has no direct tutor in the list. As a result, the deck usually develops on curve and reaches an operational combo around turn 7 rather than presenting a consistently early threat. It has respectable creature protection and removal, but limited stack interaction and weak recovery if both combo pieces are removed.
