Format: Commander

Commander: Hakbal of the Surging Soul

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Hakbal of the Surging Soul drives a Merfolk tribal engine that turns every combat into a mass-explore trigger, growing the board while digging toward lands and key spells. The deck leans on cheap unblockable Merfolk, anthem lords, and counter synergy to win through commander damage, a wide unblockable army, or the Branching Evolution counter loop that creates infinite Merfolk tokens and infinite +1/+1 counters. Interaction is unusually dense for a tribal deck, with seven counterspells and a suite of instant-speed removal and protection.
