Deck overview

Maular, the Next Evolution enables a five-color big-creature pile that cheats out mana-value-7-plus legends and turns them sideways. The primary plan is to ramp hard, use Natural Order, Defense of the Heart, Quicksilver Amulet, or Elvish Piper to put Ghalta, Stampede Tyrant on the battlefield early, and then let Maular's attack trigger double every 7-plus threat. Secondary lines rely on Maelstrom Wanderer's haste and cascade, Old Gnawbone/Klauth Treasure bursts to fuel an X=10 Finale of Devastation, and Avacyn/Jin-Gitaxias to shield the board. Maular is mainly a deckbuilding enabler and finisher multiplier; the deck can still function without him, though the kill gets slower.
