Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir control and tribal midrange deck helmed by Vren, the Relentless. The primary game plan revolves around leveraging Vren's static replacement effect, which exiles opposing creatures whenever they die, completely dismantling graveyard-based strategies. By pairing Vren with a dense suite of edicts, targeted removal, and asymmetric sweepers like Swarmyard Massacre and Toxic Deluge, the deck simultaneously dismantles opposing boards while generating a swarm of self-buffing Rat tokens at each end step. Once a critical mass of tokens is assembled, the deck closes the game through combat damage using evasion enablers like Marrow-Gnawer and Piper of the Swarm or stat amplifiers like Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm. The deck features strong creature denial and decent stack interaction, but runs limited early ramp, making it reliant on steady land drops to reach its mid-game engines.
