Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos Group Slug midrange deck commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The strategy revolves around deploying cheap, asymmetric life-loss permanents such as Razorkin Needlehead, Creeping Bloodsucker, and Fate Unraveler. Once Valgavoth enters the battlefield, any opponent losing life on their own turn triggers Valgavoth to grow with +1/+1 counters and draw a card. This generates up to three extra cards per table rotation, rapidly filling your hand with interaction, protection, and damage amplifiers. The deck closes games around Turn 7 by scaling noncombat damage with Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might, and Spiked Corridor // Torture Pit, or wiping boards while burning the table with Chandra's Ignition and Massacre Wurm. It leverages high card velocity and resilient threat packages to outgrind opponents while turning routine game actions into deadly life penalties.
