Commander: Volrath, the Shapestealer

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Volrath, the Shapestealer heads a Sultai +1/+1 and -1/-1 counter deck. The primary plan is to build an unblockable counter army with Cazur, Master Biomancer, and proliferate effects, then win through combat or Simic Ascendancy. Volrath's combat trigger spreads -1/-1 counters and his {1} ability copies the best countered creature while staying a 7/5. A secondary -1/-1 package (Hapatra, Nest of Scarabs, Blowfly Infestation) turns those counters into deathtouch tokens and an infinite Snake loop. The Mimeoplasm and clone effects provide flexible threats, while Devoted Druid/Luxior offer a mana engine. Overall, the deck is resilient and interactive but depends on assembling counter synergies in the mid-game.
