Deck overview

This is a Mardu-paired-but-actually-Orzhov aristocrats-and-counters midrange deck helmed by Syr Vondam, Sunstar Exemplar, built to weaponize death triggers. The core loop is feeding creatures to sacrifice outlets and incidental deaths to grow the commander's power, drain the table through Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim, and grind value through a deep recursion package. The commander's death trigger - destroying any nonland permanent once it dies at power 4+ - turns it into a repeatable removal engine when paired with the deck's reanimation spells. Wins come from combat: a counter-grown board swung with Akroma's Will, an Elenda, the Dusk Rose token explosion, and incremental drain. There are no infinite combos; the deck wins through inevitability, recursion density, and board-level protection.
