Deck overview

This deck is a thematic Grixis midrange build commanded by Sauron, the Dark Lord, combining the Amass Orcs/Goblins and Ring-tempting mechanics from The Lord of the Rings. The game plan focuses on ramping into Sauron by turn 5, leveraging opponents' spellcasting to automatically amass a massive Army token. When the Army deals combat damage, the Ring tempts you, triggering Sauron's ability to discard your hand and draw four fresh cards. This continuous card refill fuels combat augmenters such as Orcish Siegemaster, Mauhúr, Uruk-hai Captain, and Assault on Osgiliath, allowing the deck to grind down life totals across consecutive combat turns. Secondary engines like Lord of the Nazgûl and In the Darkness Bind Them provide token redundancy. The deck excels at resource generation and combat pressure but relies heavily on combat damage and possesses minimal instant-speed interaction against noncreature permanents.
