Smaug the Magnificent by RigorousSoup

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Magnificent

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This mono-red Treasure/Dragon deck is built around Smaug the Magnificent, whose upkeep Treasure and attack-trigger damage convert artifact tokens into direct damage. The primary plan is to ramp into Smaug, multiply Treasure production with Academy Manufactor and Dragons, then use extra-combat cards such as Full Throttle and Desert Were-Worm to fire the commander's trigger multiple times per turn. Secondary wins come from evasive Dragon beatdown and the Smaug token from There and Back Again, which can create a huge Treasure burst when killed. The hidden commander, both in flavor and function, is that saga's Smaug token, doubling as a finisher and a Treasure bomb.
