thalia and gitrog monster by Chuy

Format: Commander

Commander: Thalia and The Gitrog Monster

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Thalia and The Gitrog Monster leads an Abzan lands stax deck that wins through landfall token swarms finished by Craterhoof Behemoth. The commander adds an extra land drop, taps down opposing creatures and nonbasic lands, and draws cards when you attack and sacrifice a land or creature. Secondary engines like The Gitrog Monster, The Necrobloom, Scute Swarm, Avenger of Zendikar and Titania generate card advantage and bodies from every land drop, while Exploration, Azusa, Dryad and Lotus Cobra accelerate. Tutors and Finale of Devastation find the finisher, and a dense stax and protection suite buys time. The hidden engine is The Gitrog Monster, which pairs with The Necrobloom for sustained draw and dredge.
