Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black discard and group-slug attrition deck commanded by Kuroki, Thief of Talents. The primary game plan revolves around emptying opponents' hands using symmetric and asymmetric discard spells such as Burglar Rat, Bottomless Pit, and Oppression. Once hands are depleted, the deck capitalizes on '8-Rack' punishers like Shrieking Affliction, Quest for the Nihil Stone, Bandit's Talent, and Fell Specter to steadily drain life totals while Kuroki and evasive specters apply combat pressure. Kuroki presents opponents with a taxing dilemma: allow you to cast their best spells for free or let the commander grow into a lethal menace threat. The deck excels at grinding down opponents' resources and dismantling combo strategies, though it relies on slow incremental damage to close out games and remains vulnerable to top-decked board wipes and dedicated artifact or enchantment removal.
