Deck overview

This Dimir Zombie deck piloted by Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver operates as a classic tribal aristocrats and swarm engine. The deck builds early board presence with low-cost Zombie utility creatures like Cryptbreaker and Gravecrawler, curving naturally into Wilhelt on Turn 4 to convert dying Zombies into decayed tokens and steady end-step card draw. In the mid-game, it pivots into potent value engines and life drain, leveraging Diregraf Captain, The Scarab God, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel to whittle down the table. Combat evasion provided by Cover of Darkness, Zombie Master, and Geralf, Visionary Stitcher allows wide Zombie armies to pressure life totals while recurring edicts from Fleshbag Marauder suppress opposing boards. With high functional redundancy and resilient graveyard recursion, the deck easily recovers from removal, ultimately closing games around Turn 8 through overwhelming aristocrat triggers, mass combat damage, or explosive turns enabled by Bolas's Citadel and Rooftop Storm.
