Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Simic Merfolk tribal and +1/+1 counters strategy commanded by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. Its core engine focuses on establishing early Merfolk on Turns 1 through 3, casting Hakbal on Turn 4, and utilizing combat explore triggers across all controlled Merfolk to filter draws, ramp lands, and accumulate counters. On Turn 5, the deck reaches critical onset by deploying evasion enablers like Herald of Secret Streams, counter amplifiers like Branching Evolution, or asymmetric resets like Wave Goodbye. With heavy mana acceleration from Gaea's Cradle and Hakbal's land-cheating attack trigger, backed by efficient protection like Inspiring Call and Fierce Guardianship, the deck rapidly scales board power and eliminates all three opponents through unblockable combat damage by Turn 7.
