Deck overview

This deck is a high-powered Mardu combat and creature-cheating strategy spearheaded by Kaalia of the Vast. The game plan revolves around deploying Kaalia on Turn 3 or 4 and immediately attacking to cheat massive, game-altering Angels, Demons, and Dragons directly onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. Payoffs like Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Bloodthirster, and Terror of the Peaks rapidly multiply damage output and generate extra combat steps to overpower the table. The deck compensates for Kaalia's inherent vulnerability as a 2/2 attacker by running a premier suite of free and low-cost protection spells, including Deflecting Swat, Flawless Maneuver, Vexilus Praetor, and Dolmen Gate. If Kaalia is answered, redundant cheat engines like Sneak Attack, Cryptic Gateway, and reanimation spells ensure the deck continues applying relentless aerial pressure to close out games by Turn 6.
