Deck overview

This deck is a focused Selesnya +1/+1 counters aggro deck led by Wakka, Devoted Guardian. It pairs Dog kindred creatures with potent counter multipliers like Branching Evolution, The Earth Crystal, and Innkeeper's Talent. The game plan establishes early board presence through low-cost creatures and ramp, casts Wakka on turn 3 or 4, and uses Wakka's trample and combat trigger to initiate team-wide growth via the Blitzball Captain ability. Once modified, the creature suite overwhelms opponents with massive trampling power, bolstered by asymmetric board control from Damning Verdict and lethal burst from Akroma's Will. An extensive suite of defensive spells—including Teferi's Protection, Heroic Intervention, and Flawless Maneuver—shields the growing army from removal, while The Ozolith and Resourceful Defense preserve counter investments across board wipes.
