Deck overview

This mono-black deck is built around Tergrid, God of Fright, weaponizing symmetrical sacrifice and discard effects to strip opposing resources and convert them into your own board presence. Acceleration from cards like Dark Ritual, Sol Ring, and 2-mana rocks allows Tergrid to enter play on Turn 4. Once established, high-impact disruption spells like Dark Deal, Mindslicer, and Death Cloud empty opposing hands while placing all discarded and sacrificed permanents directly onto your battlefield. The deck breaks parity through asymmetric theft and stax pieces like Grave Pact, Braids, Cabal Minion, and Archfiend of Depravity, locking opponents into topdeck mode. The game is closed out by attacking with stolen armies and draining remaining life totals with Blood Artist or Tergrid's Lantern. While vulnerable to instant-speed spot removal and artifact or enchantment strategies, the deck generates overwhelming board states when its engine resolves.
