Deck overview

This deck is an Esper control and spellslinger strategy commanded by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed. The primary plan leverages Y'shtola's ability to deal 2 damage to each opponent and gain 2 life whenever you cast a noncreature spell with mana value 3 or greater. Early turns focus on establishing mana rocks and defensive pillowfort enchantments like Ghostly Prison and Authority of the Consuls. Once Y'shtola enters on turn 3 or 4, the deck chains mid-cost noncreature spells, untap counterspells, and token creators to repeatedly trigger life drain while refilling the hand via Y'shtola's 4-life-loss draw trigger. The midgame locks down aggressive opponents through versatile removal and sweepers while accumulating card advantage. The deck reaches a critical must-answer onset around turn 6 and finishes the table on turn 8 through compounded burn, evasive token swarms, or a lethal Exsanguinate.
