Deck overview

This deck leverages Mairsil, the Pretender to exile high-impact creatures and artifacts with cage counters, synthesizing their activated abilities into a single lethal engine. Early turns prioritize mana rock deployment and filtering combo pieces into the graveyard with cards like Buried Alive and Faithless Looting. Once Mairsil resolves, caging Asmodeus the Archfiend provides immense card advantage without its negative static drawback, while Aetherling offers near-complete immunity to removal and repeated end-step exile triggers. The ultimate endgame bypasses Mairsil's once-per-turn activation restriction using Quicksilver Elemental, generating infinite mana alongside Gilded Lotus and an untapper to burn the table down with Hateflayer or Spikeshot Elder. As an independent backup plan, Divining Witch pairs with Thassa's Oracle to win directly.
