Deck overview

This mono-blue deck uses Malcolm, Alluring Scoundrel as an engine to cheat expensive, game-winning spells into play. By flashing Malcolm in early and attacking, the deck accumulates chorus counters through combat damage and proliferate cards like Experimental Augury, Tezzeret's Gambit, and Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus. Once Malcolm reaches four chorus counters on Turn 5, his combat trigger casts massive spells like Hullbreaker Horror, Ancient Silver Dragon, Spawning Kraken, or Mnemonic Deluge for free. The secondary plan converts card draw into wide token armies using Ominous Seas, Nadir Kraken, Chasm Skulker, and Shark Typhoon. Herald of Secret Streams, Wonder, and one-sided bounce spells such as Spectral Deluge and Scourge of Fleets clear the way for unblockable lethal combat damage. A robust interaction suite of cheap counterspells, spot removal, and phasing effects defends Malcolm throughout his setup, leading to a reliable table elimination on Turn 8.
