Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black tempo and drain strategy piloted by Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor. The plan begins by playing cheap, unblockable, and shadow creatures on the first two turns. Once Gix enters the battlefield on Turn 3, these attackers immediately deal combat damage to opponents, drawing multiple cards each turn at the cost of life. This steady flow of fresh resources quickly finds mana acceleration such as Jet Medallion, Crypt Ghast, and Cabal Coffers. By Turn 5, the deck generates enough mana to cast overwhelming threats like Peer into the Abyss or activate Gix's ability to steal spells directly from an opponent's library. On Turn 6, the deck converts its massive mana and card surplus into a decisive table elimination through large drain spells like Torment of Hailfire and Exsanguinate. Fast removal spells like Deadly Rollick and Withering Torment keep dangerous opposing threats off the board throughout execution.
