The rat by Rango

Format: Commander

Commander: Vren, the Relentless

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Dimir attrition-Rats midrange deck built around Vren, the Relentless. The plan is simple and mean: answer opposing creatures with a dense removal and counter suite, exile them via Vren's replacement effect, then cash those exiles into an ever-growing swarm of anthem-scaled Rat tokens at each end step. Supporting packages include hand disruption (Burglar Rat, Pilfer, Bandit's Talent), Threshold payoffs (Persistent Marshstalker, Mindwhisker, Shoreline Looter), and life-drain finishers like Valley Rotcaller. There are no infinite combos; the deck wins through combat inevitability and incremental drain once the Rat army outscales the table. Vren, the Relentless is the primary engine but not a hard lock-without him the 99 still functions as a grindy Dimir control shell with tribal beaters.
