Deck overview

The deck is an Izzet spellslinger shell led by Alania, Divergent Storm. It rewards the first instant, sorcery, and Otter spell each turn by giving an opponent a card and copying the spell. Cost reducers such as Baral, Chief of Compliance, Stormcatch Mentor, Ruby Medallion, and Sapphire Medallion help offset that drawback, while Guttersnipe, Coruscation Mage, Veyran, Voice of Duality, prowess creatures, and draw engines convert repeated casting into pressure. The strongest finish is Niv-Mizzet, Parun with Curiosity, which creates an unlimited draw-and-damage loop after an initiating spell. The list has no reliable way to find Curiosity, however, and its expensive mana requirements make the combo an exceptional draw rather than an ordinary plan. Expect incremental value, interaction, and burn pressure, not a dependable table kill or lock.
