Deck overview

Y'shtola, Night's Blessed commands an Esper control and life-drain shell designed to grind out opponents through incremental attrition and explosive drain finishes. The primary strategy controls the pace of play using dense spot removal, board sweepers, and flexible counterspells while Y'shtola converts noncreature spells into repeated life swings and steady card draw. As the battlefield stabilizes, the deck transitions toward lethal finishes by pairing Sheoldred, the Apocalypse with Peer into the Abyss, resolving a massive Torment of Hailfire powered by Cabal Coffers and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, or storming through Bolas's Citadel to drain the table.
