Deck overview

This deck is a classic Golgari aristocrats and reanimator strategy piloted by Meren of Clan Nel Toth. It establishes board control by sacrificing disposable utility creatures and recurring them every turn cycle. Early turns focus on mana ramp and self-mill through creatures like Sakura-Tribe Elder and Satyr Wayfinder to deposit targets into the graveyard. Once Meren lands on Turn 4, the deck establishes an oppressive attrition loop using Fleshbag Marauder and Plaguecrafter to strip away opposing boards while accumulating experience counters. As the graveyard fills, Meren transitions from resource generation to overwhelming pressure, reanimating game-ending engines such as Kessig Cagebreakers, Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest, or Butcher of Malakir. Lethal finishes are executed between Turns 7 and 8 through a swarming combat strike empowered by Overwhelming Stampede or by sacrificing high-power bodies to Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord. The deck excels in creature-heavy pods but remains vulnerable to graveyard exile and stack-based combo strategies.
