Deck overview

Sygg, River Cutthroat is a cheap draw enabler, but the deck is really a draw/drain control deck. It forces extra draws through Howling Mine, Kami of the Crescent Moon, and The Unagi of Kyoshi Island, then converts those draws into life loss with Underworld Dreams, Fate Unraveler, Scrawling Crawler, and Psychosis Crawler. Notion Thief and Teferi's Ageless Insight multiply card advantage. Secondary paths are token pressure from Alandra, Ominous Seas, Chasm Skulker, and The Watcher in the Water, plus goad/impetus politics to survive. Sygg triggers whenever opponents lose 3+ life, so drain effects double as card draw. No hidden commander; the engine is spread across several interchangeable pieces.
