Deck overview

This mono-black midrange deck leverages Zenos yae Galvus // Shinryu, Transcendent Rival to bypass the need to deal 120 total damage in a four-player game. By casting Zenos, wiping small creatures with its -2/-2 enter-the-battlefield trigger, and removing the chosen opponent's creature, Zenos transforms into Shinryu, an 8/8 Flying Dragon with Burning Chains. Burning Chains designates a single opponent whose defeat triggers an immediate victory for you. The supporting deck is packed with efficient edict creatures and single-target removal to guarantee the transformation, along with +1/+1 counter synergies that capitalize on creatures dying. Once Shinryu lands, it requires only three clean combat connections (24 commander damage) against the designated target to close out the table. Utility lands like Rogue's Passage and artifacts like Key to the City ensure damage connects smoothly through opposing flying blockers.
