Deck overview

This Athreos, God of Passage deck is a specialized aristocrats combo engine built around 24 copies of Shadowborn Apostle. The primary game plan curves out Apostles in the opening turns, assembling six copies on the battlefield by Turn 4. On Turn 5, sacrificing the Apostles cheats a game-ending Demon directly into play—typically Razaketh, the Foulblooded or Vilis, Broker of Blood—or deploys Thrumming Stone. On Turn 6, the deck chains Apostle ripples and sacrifice triggers alongside drain outlets like Zulaport Cutthroat and Cruel Celebrant to deplete each opponent's life total in a single turn. Athreos, God of Passage adds relentless pressure by taxing opponents 3 life whenever an Apostle dies or returning it straight to hand. While vulnerable to graveyard hate and artifact removal, the list features immense functional redundancy and lethal burst potential.
