Format: Commander

Commander: The Gaffer

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This is a mono-white lifegain control deck built around The Gaffer's card draw. The primary plan is to gain life in chunks, convert that life into cards and large creatures, then finish with Felidar Sovereign, Test of Endurance, Approach of the Second Sun, or Aetherflux Reservoir. The commander is a draw engine that rewards reaching the 3-life threshold each turn, and the deck includes many redundant lifegain doublers and payoffs. Secondary paths include a go-wide token beatdown plan with Crested Sunmare and Luminarch Ascension, and a stax/tax shell that slows opponents while the deck assembles its life total. The deck is heavily dependent on The Gaffer for card advantage, but can still function through Land Tax, Esper Sentinel, and other draw sources if the commander is removed.
