Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Rakdos Group Slug engine commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The strategy revolves around deploying cheap, passive damage sources such as Roiling Vortex, Razorkin Needlehead, and Underworld Dreams that reliably deal damage to each opponent during their own turns. When Valgavoth is on the battlefield, each of these instances causes Valgavoth to grow with +1/+1 counters while drawing a fresh card, netting three additional cards and +3/+3 every table rotation. The deck converts this massive card advantage and board presence into game-ending pressure using damage multipliers like Torbran, Thane of Red Fell and Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, alongside disruptive punishers like Painful Quandary and Citadel of Pain. Finishers include explosive mana bursts via Jeska's Will or Mana Geyser into a lethal Exsanguinate, heavy combat swings with a massive flying commander, and forced combat through Kardur, Doomscourge and Disrupt Decorum.
