Deck overview

This deck is an Esper control and tap/untap synergy engine commanded by Merieke Ri Berit. The primary game plan revolves around casting Merieke on curve and pairing her with untap enablers such as Pemmin's Aura, Aphetto Alchemist, Intruder Alarm, and Dazzling Theater // Prop Room. Because Merieke destroys stolen creatures whenever she untaps, untap effects turn her into repeatable, instant-speed creature removal and theft. The deck bolsters this engine with asymmetric taxes and discard effects like Painful Quandary, Aclazotz, Deepest Betrayal, and Mind Slash to drain opposing hands and life totals. Card advantage engines such as Phyrexian Arena and Welcoming Vampire maintain resource parity, while Farewell and Supreme Verdict clean up wider boards. The deck closes games through token swarms from Gisa, the Hellraiser, combat with stolen threats, casting Approach of the Second Sun, or executing an infinite untap loop with Aphetto Alchemist and Illusionist's Bracers.
