Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan combat-focused midrange strategy built around Doran, Besieged by Time. By leveraging creatures whose toughness far exceeds their power, the deck turns cheap, defensive bodies into lethal attackers. Doran provides a dual engine: it discounts creature spells with high toughness by {1} and grants an attacking or blocking creature a +X/+X buff equal to the difference between its power and toughness. Early turns focus on ramping with cards like Sylvan Caryatid and Overgrown Battlement before deploying Doran on Turn 4. The deck transitions into an overwhelming offensive force around Turn 6, utilizing asymmetric sweepers such as Slaughter the Strong to clear opposing blockers while leaving its own low-power army completely intact. With redundant backup enablers like Assault Formation and Bedrock Tortoise, the deck maintains consistent pressure even if its commander is removed.
