Deck overview

This deck is a tuned Dimir Aristocrats combo build piloted by Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver. The strategy focuses on establishing a sacrifice engine that converts disposable Zombie tokens and recurring creatures into card draw, mana velocity, and fatal life-drain loops. The primary win condition revolves around combining Gravecrawler with a sacrifice altar—most notably Phyrexian Altar—and Wilhelt or an alternate Zombie payoff, generating infinite enter-the-battlefield and death triggers that instantly drain the table through cards like Diregraf Captain, Blood Artist, or The Meathook Massacre. Supported by efficient black tutors, powerful graveyard recursion, and low-cost blue countermagic, the deck actively protects its assembly windows while disrupting faster opponents. When combo routes are contested, the deck transitions effectively into a resilient mid-range attrition plan, leveraging high-devotion bursts from Gray Merchant of Asphodel or asymmetric wipes like Toxic Deluge to grind out opponents before executing an inescapable finish.
