Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Golgari aristocrats and control build helmed by Ygra, Eater of All. Ygra turns all other creatures into Food artifacts and gains two +1/+1 counters whenever any Food hits a graveyard from the battlefield. The primary strategy accelerates mana in the early turns, casts Ygra on turn 4, and leverages asymmetric artifact sweepers like Creeping Corrosion and Fade from History on turn 5. Because opposing creatures are Foods, these wipes clear every creature and mana rock opponents control while leaving Ygra alive and supercharged to lethal commander power. Stax pieces like Karn, the Great Creator and Manglehorn lock down opposing creature abilities and force incoming threats to enter tapped. Meanwhile, draw engines like Viridian Revel and aristocrat payoffs like Mirkwood Bats generate massive card advantage and life drain. Supported by efficient protection spells, Ygra quickly eliminates opponents through unblockable or trampling commander combat damage.
