Deck overview

This is a Rakdos "group slug" deck helmed by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The engine is simple: make every opponent lose life on each of their turns - through upkeep pain (Sulfuric Vortex, Mogis, God of Slaughter, Roiling Vortex), draw punishment (Underworld Dreams, Spiteful Visions, Razorkin Needlehead), land damage (Manabarbs, Zo-Zu the Punisher), and spell taxes (Painful Quandary, Kaervek the Merciless, The Lord of Pain) - so Valgavoth draws a card and puts a +1/+1 counter on itself for each opponent each turn cycle. That incidental damage is amplified by Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, Fiery Emancipation, and Wound Reflection, then closed out with Exsanguinate, Peer into the Abyss, or the Bloodchief Ascension + Mindcrank mill loop; Repercussion plus a damage wipe is the mass-burn alternative. It is a mid-speed attrition-control deck that wins by out-taxing and out-drawing the table rather than through combat.
