Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos group slug strategy commanded by The Lord of Pain. Its primary game plan is to turn every routine game action into painful attrition for opponents. In the early game, cheap permanents like Zo-Zu the Punisher, Razorkin Needlehead, and Harsh Mentor tax opponents for playing lands, drawing cards, and activating abilities, while Rampaging Ferocidon and the commander turn off lifegain entirely. By Turn 5, The Lord of Pain enters to weaponize the first spell cast by any player each turn. The mid-to-late game accelerates rapidly on Turn 6 through severe damage multipliers and life-halving effects such as Heartless Hidetsugu, Wound Reflection, and Fiendish Duo. Although the deck lacks countermagic and draws significant aggro due to symmetrical damage, its dense web of redundant burn pieces and efficient targeted removal allows it to burn out the entire table by Turn 8.
