Deck overview

This mono-red burn and spellslinger deck leverages Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might to convert incidental 1-damage pings and wide-area burn spells into catastrophic damage bursts. By establishing low-cost pingers such as Firebrand Archer, Kessig Flamebreather, and Coruscation Mage on early turns, the deck prepares the battlefield for Axonil's arrival on Turn 4. Once Axonil is operational, every noncombat damage instance dealt to opponents scales up to Axonil's power (base 4, or 8+ with pump spells like Unleash Fury and Bulk Up). On Turn 5, the pilot chains rituals, impulse draws, and cheap area-of-effect spells like End the Festivities and Boltwave to deal upwards of 30 damage to each opponent simultaneously. Efficient redirection spells such as Deflecting Swat and Bolt Bend protect the commander from spot removal, while group slug enchantments like Manabarbs heavily tax opposing resources. The deck consistently closes games by Turn 6.
