Deck overview

Fire Lord Azula commands a Grixis combat-spellslinger deck that turns the combat phase into an explosive spellcasting engine. The strategy focuses on deploying Azula, attacking to generate firebending mana, and casting instant-speed spells during combat to copy them for free. Doubling spells like Unleash Fury, Soul's Fire, and Unexpected Windfall enables massive bursts of commander damage, card advantage, and board control. The supporting creature suite features firebending aggressors such as Ozai, the Phoenix King and Zuko, Exiled Prince, which supply backup pressure and mana velocity. A robust Grixis removal suite keeps opposing boards clear while utility permanents strip opposing hexproof and indestructible shields. Because the deck relies on declaring attacks to trigger its primary value engine, properly timing combat spells and protecting Azula with Lightning Greaves and redirection magic is essential. The deck closes games over a sequence of lethal combat swings and copied direct burn spells.
