Deck overview

This mono-black deck pairs Sarevok, Deathbringer with Cultist of the Absolute to establish a high-pressure hybrid of Voltron aggro, group slug attrition, and traditional aristocrats. Turn 1 Cultist ensures Sarevok enters on Turn 4 as a massive 6/7 flying, deathtouch attacker protected by Ward. Cultist's mandatory upkeep sacrifice satisfies Sarevok's condition on your own turn while turning on recursive creatures like Reassembling Skeleton and Bloodsoaked Champion. Opponents who fail to remove a permanent on their turns take 6 life loss during their end steps, severely punishing passive play. Backed by edict creatures, death-trigger protection spells, and drain finishers like Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Syr Konrad, the Grim, the deck consistently closes out games across mid-game combat and passive life drain.
