Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos group slug midrange strategy commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The primary game plan revolves around deploying low-cost, persistent damage enablers like Razorkin Needlehead, Kederekt Parasite, and Sulfuric Vortex that guarantee each opponent loses life during their own turn. This consistently triggers Valgavoth, growing the commander into a massive flying threat while drawing up to three additional cards per turn rotation. The steady influx of cards fuels a heavy interactive package and deploys high-end punishers such as Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, The Lord of Pain, and Painful Quandary. Opponents find their life totals drained rapidly whenever they cast spells, tap mana, or draw cards. Valgavoth converts this attrition into combat knockouts, closing games around Turn 8 through flying commander damage and burst finishers like Gray Merchant of Asphodel.
