Deck overview

This deck is a high-powered Mono-Red Group Slug and Resource Denial strategy commanded by Zo-Zu the Punisher. The game plan accelerates rapidly using format-tier artifact mana like Mana Crypt and Sol Ring to deploy Zo-Zu and complementary punisher pieces on early turns. On turn 4, the deck casts asymmetric land wipe spells such as Keldon Firebombers, Ruination, or Bend or Break, or deploys oppressive lock pieces like Winter Orb and Blood Moon. Because the deck relies on artifacts rather than lands for its mana curve, it breaks parity easily while opponents struggle to cast spells. Opponents take severe trigger damage from Ankh of Mishra, Manabarbs, and Zo-Zu the Punisher whenever they attempt to tap mana or rebuild their land bases. Direct burn spells like Price of Progress and Acidic Soil provide explosive table-wide finishes on turn 7.
