Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov Cleric tribal and lifegain aristocrats engine helmed by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. The primary game plan focuses on deploying efficient low-cost Clerics like Soul Warden, Guide of Souls, and Auriok Champion to establish consistent lifegain triggers. Once Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel enters the battlefield on Turn 5, it transforms these life gains into substantial card advantage by paying life to draw cards. The deck leverages this massive card flow to dig into its decisive win condition: the infinite drain combo of Exquisite Blood paired with Starscape Cleric or South Wind Avatar. It also maintains strong alternate win routes through Aetherflux Reservoir, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, and Approach of the Second Sun. An extensive protection package headlined by Grand Abolisher and Restoration Magic safeguards combo turns, while efficient spot removal keeps opponents in check.
