Deck overview

This mono-black deck, helmed by Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, is a draw-punishment and life-drain machine. The primary plan is to weaponize opponent card draw: symmetric draw effects like Howling Mine, Teferi's Puzzle Box, Seizan, Perverter of Truth, and Scrawling Crawler force opponents to draw, which Sheoldred converts into life loss while the deck gains life. This is reinforced by Underworld Dreams, Fate Unraveler, and Orcish Bowmasters. The deck's actual win conditions are compact two-card combos: Exquisite Blood with any of Bloodthirsty Conqueror, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Enduring Tenacity, or Marauding Blight-Priest creates an infinite life-drain loop, and Chain of Smog + Professor Onyx wins through infinite magecraft triggers. A big-mana package (Cabal Coffers, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Crypt Ghast) supports Exsanguinate as a backup finisher.
