Commander: Smaug the Magnificent

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This mono-red deck is helmed by Smaug the Magnificent and is built around an overwhelming density of Treasure token generation. The primary game plan is to amass a hoard of Treasures, then use Smaug's haste-enabled attack trigger to deal direct damage equal to the number of Treasures you control. Secondary win conditions include Hellkite Tyrant's alternate win condition at 20 artifacts and incremental damage from Ingenious Artillerist and Reckless Fireweaver. The deck leverages extreme redundancy-over thirty cards create Treasures-to ensure the engine runs, but lacks tutors, strong recursion, and stack interaction. Extra combat steps from Scourge of the Throne and Great Train Heist can chain with Smaug's haste to fire the trigger multiple times in a single turn, but the deck generally wins through accumulated value rather than a fast combo.
