Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black aristocrats and reanimator strategy designed to grind out opponents through resource attrition and massive life drain. Rather than relying on fast infinite combos, the list leverages token producers like Bitterblossom and Ophiomancer alongside sacrifice outlets like Yawgmoth, Thran Physician and Braids, Arisen Nightmare to generate continuous card advantage. The deck controls the board using asymmetric edict creatures and sweepers, continually clearing opposing boards while recycling its own threats. Mid-to-late game turns capitalize on potent drain engines such as Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Kokusho, the Evening Star, and Ayara, First of Locthwain, which can be repeatedly reanimated using spells like Victimize, Reanimate, and Chthonian Nightmare. The commander, Avacyn, Angel of Horror, acts as an explosive late-game recursion engine that returns all sacrificed nontoken creatures on every end step, locking down opposing boards and sealing victory within two response cycles of critical onset.
