Deck overview

This deck is a Gruul midrange strategy led by Chishiro, the Shattered Blade, built around the Modified mechanic via Auras, Equipment, and +1/+1 counters. The deck accelerates in the early turns using ramp spells such as Three Visits, Farseek, and Arcane Signet to deploy Chishiro ahead of curve. Once on the battlefield, casting cheap Auras and Equipment produces 2/2 menace Spirit tokens and triggers end-step +1/+1 counter distribution across all modified creatures. The deck scales into the midgame with mass-counter doublers like Branching Evolution, Doubling Season, and Kalonian Hydra, while granting evasion through Kodama of the West Tree and Champion of Lambholt. An alternative infinite combat line is accessible via Godo, Bandit Warlord tutoring Helm of the Host. The deck generates tremendous combat pressure and board presence, but carries minimal reactive stack interaction and remains vulnerable to sweepers.
