Bruenor Battlehammer Equipment by CheshireP

Format: Commander

Commander: Bruenor Battlehammer

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Bruenor Battlehammer leads an aggressive Boros Equipment deck that turns one creature plus a pile of hammers into a same-turn table kill. Bruenor is the cheapest free-equip engine in the command zone: his first equip each turn costs {0}, and his +2/+0-per-Equipment anthem turns him into a turn-four 17-power attacker. The primary kill is commander damage - free-equip Colossus Hammer, add haste and keywords via Sword of Vengeance, then chain extra combat steps from Hexplate Wallbreaker and Full Throttle to eliminate the whole table in a single turn. A secondary ground plan uses the For Mirrodin! Rebel tokens, Baird, Argivian Recruiter, and Rise of the Hobgoblins to go wide under the same anthem, while evasive lifelink flyers like Lyra Dawnbringer stabilize the midgame. The functional "hidden commanders" in the 99 are Puresteel Paladin and Astor, Bearer of Blades, who replicate Bruenor's cheap equipping and keep the engine running even when the commander is answered.
