Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Rakdos Group Slug engine commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The strategy revolves around deploying cheap, symmetrical damage permanents like Roiling Vortex, Copper Tablet, Razorkin Needlehead, and Zo-Zu the Punisher in the early turns. When Valgavoth enters the battlefield on Turn 3 or 4, every instance of an opponent taking damage on their turn triggers Valgavoth, growing the Demon into a massive flying threat while drawing three extra cards every single turn cycle. The deck converts this massive card advantage into heavy control and burn amplification through cards like Manabarbs, Spellshock, Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. Opponents find themselves caught in a vicious squeeze: casting spells and tapping lands drains their life total rapidly, while ignoring Valgavoth leads to swift commander damage knockouts. With robust redirection protection and efficient removal, the deck closes games reliably by Turn 7.
